Rich Summers is joined by Jason Hamilton, who brings more than 30 years in the industry to the conversation. Jason's career started in press photography in Australia, training that mixed daytime work as a photojournalist with evening classes built around studio lighting and technique. From there he moved through fashion and food photography before landing in New York, where he rose from freelance photographer to Senior Director of Imaging Operations at Bed Bath & Beyond, leading a purpose-built studio across twelve shooting bays and two sites.

Jason talks candidly about what changes when a photographer steps back from the camera to lead a team, and why he still comes into every studio he consults for as a peer rather than an outside expert passing judgement. He shares the part of studio leadership nobody sees from the outside: shielding a team from the pressure and last-minute chaos that lands from above, so the people doing the work only ever have to deal with the work itself. He also gives his honest read on where AI and CGI are genuinely heading for home and furniture brands, and why that category is moving faster than fashion. And he answers a question we ask every guest: what is the one thing a well-run studio does that most studios don't?

Closing line stays the same, pointing to The Collective NYC on 22nd October.
